Founded in 2007, Oasis Pools is THE premier custom swimming pool & spa builder, and outdoor living specialist serving the St. Louis area and Southern Illinois. Locally and family-owned by Chip Unnerstall and Nicole Newkirk, the company prides itself on delivering superior craftsmanship, personalized service, and attention to detail. Chip has been involved in the pool industry since his teens, and he and his team have been involved in the construction of approximately 1,000 swimming pools. Committed to continuing education, Chip stays up-to-date on the latest pool & spa technologies and construction techniques. He is also certified and licensed to expand the company’s services to include commercial swimming pools.
Oasis Pools is more than just a pool company — they are a full-service outdoor living construction firm. In addition to building custom swimming pools and spas/hot tubs, they specialize in outdoor fireplaces and fire pits, outdoor kitchens, and lighting & landscaping. Their comprehensive service offerings ensure that their clients don’t have to become subcontractors to complete their outdoor spaces — Oasis handles and coordinates every aspect, providing a true turnkey outdoor living solution.
While they focus on fully custom in-ground gunite/shotcrete swimming pools, they also have extensive experience with fiberglass and vinyl liner pools. Beyond construction, Oasis Pools boasts a large service department specializing in cleaning, maintenance & repairs, and seasonal pool openings & closings.

PHTA Member
Oasis Pools is a proud member of the Pool & Hot Tub Alliance, the world’s oldest and largest association for swimming pool, spa, and hot tub professionals. For over half a century, PHTA has provided essential industry knowledge and has been accredited by the American National Standards Institute since 1983 to develop national standards for swimming pools and hot tubs.
CPO Certified
CPO certification is a professional credential awarded to individuals who have demonstrated proficiency in pool and hot tub operation, maintenance, and safety. It is recognized in all 50 states and is considered the gold standard in the industry. Certified pool operators (CPOs) have the knowledge and skills to ensure safe and healthy pool and hot tub environments.
IPSSA Certified
The Independent Pool and Spa Service Association (IPSSA) offers certification exams in various aspects of pool service. These certifications cover topics such as water chemistry, equipment maintenance, and chlorine expertise. By passing these exams, you can demonstrate your knowledge and skills in the pool industry, which can enhance your career prospects and credibility.
Pentair Trained
Pentair Expert Training is designed for professionals with experience in wastewater or pressurization who want to deepen their knowledge on these topics. It focuses on standards, installation, and maintenance of equipment. Participants will have the opportunity to practice presentations, try out demonstrations, and perform practical tests on working demo units.

Among homeowner Mark Lucido’s many ideas: the reflection pool at the front entry. “Mark told us he wanted some kind of reflecting pond in front, and he wanted some floating pads to get to it,” Matt recalls. “Robert’s firm started the sketches and we worked closely with Oasis Pools, the pool contractor, to make it happen. I will say that front entrance is pretty incredible.”
